Canadian Rock and Roll Royalties Tie the Knot on Canada Day

Avril Lavigne and Chad KroegerPerhaps, if it hadn’t for their joint song-effort, this famous rock and roll couple would not have said their “I-do’s” to one another.

Recently, this 1st of July, Canada’s birthday, Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger, Nickelback’s frontman, exchanged vows and got married.

A Marriage of Stars

Kroeger (famous for songs like “Photograph” and “How You Remind Me”) and Lavigne have sold over 80 million albums combined. That’s a lot when having a record sell a few hundred thousand albums is already a feat in itself.

Though it may not be the first time for the “Sk8r boi” vocalist to walk down the aisle (she divorced Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley way back in 2009), it certainly is the first marriage for the Nickelback frontman.

Musical Collaboration

The road for Mr. and Mrs. Kroeger started when they first dated exactly a year ago, July 1, 2012.

Their affair could have ended before it began had the two vocalists not gone into a joint musical collaboration. By March 2012, Kroeger wrote and recorded music for Lavigne’s fifth album – a generous act that led to greater heights. Eventually, their relationship blossomed.

Music they make, music they unite.

A Bride in Black in One Grand Celebration

Pursuing her life-long dream, Lavigne wore a beautiful black Monique Lhuillier wedding gown on her “big day”, a celebration held in France. Lavigne is a French citizen “con sanguinis” by virtue of her French father.

To add texture, the 28-year old bride walked down the aisle with a matching black bouquet of roses and flowered headpiece complete with sparkling jewels.

From Dusk Till Dawn: Party Till You Drop

Tying their knot in the grand Chateau La Napoule located in Mandelieu, France, the hosts treated their guest which numbered over a hundred to a bedazzling firework display by midnight. With all the skies in cast in color, the newlyweds were locked in a romantic kiss.

And as befitting to two rock stars in union, the party lasted till the morning after, 6 a.m. to be exact. As one attendee puts it, it was a “wild all-night partying” overflowing with drinks and food – and music.
